Perspective, Perceptions, and the Self: Private Lives in a Public World

Perception is a mutable experience

How we see ourselves can be different from how we’re seen by someone else. What shape do our feelings take? What do we see when looking at another? The image in our mind is born from our experiences, beliefs, and insecurities. “The Shape of Perception” is my attempt to give these experiences form; the extremes of myself, someone else, and how I think others see me.

Using both Traditional and Digital media, I wanted to experiment and discover the possibilities. How far can I push an emotion through composition and color? How little can I use to evoke those same expressions? Can traditional media achieve things that digital cannot? What can color achieve that composition alone can’t? These questions plagued my mind and I demanded answers.
